The Welcome Clothing Vision:

Like most great ideas Welcome Clothing came to me;
I did not
ask for it. The idea for the Happy Sperm on which
Welcome
Clothing is based started as a way to upgrade the
Medical
Electronic Systems (MES) company logo. I work for this
company by day as the Director of Sales and General Manager
of US Operations. We manufacture and sell a line of Automated Sperm Quality Analyzers to Hospitals, Sperm Banks, and Fertility Centers. When a couple is unable to achieve a pregnancy and the man gets his "Sperm Checked", there is a good chance that "Check" is happening on one of our analyzers. MES as a company had no identity, no flair, and there was nothing memorable about it. A company that disappears into a vacuum with other huge companies is going to have trouble selling product and achieving greatness. Welcome (the Happy Sperm's name) was the perfect way to upgrade the MES logo and give the company some juice. I figured (correctly) that a fun logo would make people laugh and, more importantly, remember Medical Electronic Systems. Having people remember you is an achievement but when they remember you
and laugh you have transcended the art of marketing into a whole new category. That is what I was shooting for. The MES Welcome logo started as a "curled tail" sperm with black sun glasses flashing the "thumbs up" sign. I had 3 variations of this logo designed to compare. I ran them past my consultant Henry Conyers for feedback and the advice came back: "Drop the sun glasses and use the eyes to convey more depth of feeling, enthusiasm, and emotion." He continued: "Design the sperm with the feeling of "Banjo" from the movie "The Man Who Came to Dinner." He went on to outline the logo: "It is time for a Happy Sperm with an open heart who is ready, willing, and able to luvv the Egg." For more on the idea its self click

So the MES Welcome logo was re-built, re-shaped, and re-worked until it was just right. The second I saw the final revision I knew I had something great. I screen printed a single T-Shirt and wore it to a meeting with both our CEO and Chairman. I presented the logo and the strategy I saw for using it and they
luvved it. I figured I had a much better chance getting my campaign approved if I simply showed them a final product instead of explaining the Vision. Few people can see your own Vision, but everyone can see the product of your Vision printed on a t-shirt. So, the gamble had worked and we started incorporating the MES Welcome logointo our marketing materials, price lists, e-mail signatures, letterhead, trade show booth and much more.

As the MES Welcome logo was working his way through the MES Corporation something very strange started happening. Our distributors worldwide started asking about the logo. In Europe, Japan, South America, Mexico, Russia, and the Middle East, they were requesting permission to use the new MES Welcome logo in their marketing materials for our human and animal products. Some even started considering it essential. I know the difference between someone who can "take it or leave it" and someone that is hooked on a Vision and needs to make it happen right now. This was a clear case of the latter.

Fast forward a few months and MES is absolutely rolling with the new logo and everyone seems to luvv it. I decide it is time to start wearing embroidered polo shirts with the MES Welcome logo to my business meetings. The first demo I did at Sheppard Air Force Base Medical Center inspired me to start Welcome Clothing to market Welcome directly and separately from the MES brand. More on that in this great adventure

So Welcome Clothing begins and my life takes on a whole new dynamic. On the one hand I still have my day job at MES where my little MES Welcome logo is turning into an international success. On the other hand I am now working to build a company around Welcome himself seperate from the MES brand. I spend a few weeks playing around with ideas for Welcome but nothing really hits it. It's like I am sitting there with a world class actor with no movie to put him in. I bring some designs to my consultant Henry Conyers, who in turn gives me back the million dollar idea: "Put the Sperm in an Egg". Bang! The idea hits the spot. As suggested the "Sperm in the Egg" idea is developed. It took weeks of revisions to get it right, but when it finally got dialed in it sang out with greatness - much like the MES Welcome logo did when we finally got that right. I have been learning more and more about the power of the Welcome & Egg Symbol since that day and the Vision is almost limitless. In truth it is difficult to grasp the larger view of Welcome Clothing's destiny, and when I do grasp parts of it, putting them into words is difficult. I am very much on a roller coaster that I have no control over and I feel my duty is learning how to hold on. I will give you my best shot at explaining my version of the Welcome Clothing Vision:
Welcome Clothing is here to lift and purify the reproductive process including the process of conception, pregnancy and the birth of all the World's beings. Reproduction is a far cry from the romantic exchange we would like it to be. I mean, if it was so great why would we have to lie to kids about it? 200,000,000 sperm are sent into the female body to fertilize just one egg, and either 199,999,999 or all 200,000,000 will die. The female body works through a brutal strategy of natural selection that makes it almost impossible for the Sperm. The distance from the entry point to the Egg alone is staggering. To reach the Egg, the human Sperm must travel what would be the equivelant of running from Los Angeles to Seattle in about 2 days. The Sperm will fight to the death with the female's white blood cells, with each other, and with other Sperm present in her body. When one is finally successful, all others are killed almost instantly. It is mind blowing how closely this process mimics the outer war that almost all species engage in regularly (including humans) when they fight each other for the female. So much of our society is based on straight war, that most people don’t even realize that it is even war (road rage is one of a million examples). To most it's just another day. If you want more information on the truth behind the inner (and outer)war you can check out a book called: "Sperm Wars, the Science of Sex" by Robin Baker.
We have turned reproduction into an absolute must without understanding why we do it. Everyone has kids so that their kids can grow up and have their own kids. When you look at parents around town it is very rare that you see happy ones. If you don't understand what I am talking about flip on the Television - every sitcom on T.V. showcases it. It is a cycle that could use a change. Not a drastic "stoppage" where the race dies out, but an honest change so that we start bringing in new beings with more thought, luvv, compassion and purpose.
Welcome Clothing is here to offer that change. It starts with showcasing one incredibly Happy Sperm inside an Egg. If you see it and smile, you have been changed. Even if it is a small change the change has still occurred. If you decide to buy the shirt and wear it, someone else will see it and smile. Then another, and then another. It spiders out and touches all kinds of areas you can't imagine. I don't fully understand the change that occurs from seeing this symbol but I know something profound does happen. I have seen people all over the world brighten up, laugh, and smile when they see a shirt printed with the logo. Others just stare in a deep gaze like they are looking right through me. Maybe the consciousness directly links the symbol to its own creation and sees the difference (peace vs. war). Maybe it is refreshing to see a taboo subject displayed openly with some Spirit. There are a hundred other possibilities but one this is for certain - it does have a power. It is a power I don't fully understand yet, but I do understand that it is Welcome Clothing's job to make that power available to all who have the courage to embrace it. Take heart in our Happy Sperm in his little Egg and wear it with pride. In 100 years you will be counted among the brave few who helped usher in a new peace wave starting with one Happy Sperm, and they will say:
"Remember, it All started with a Sperm."
